Insulation for noise isolation of the high pressure fuel pump.
The annoying ticking engine noise comes from the high pressure fuel pump. As standard, the fuel pump is only insulated with a simple cardboard insulation. OPEL / GM offers an optional sponge rubber insulation to isolate the ticking high pressure pump for the Opel GT Roadster.
Approximately 50% noise insulation due to the foam rubber material of the additional insulation. The insulation is used in later Opel models with the same engine (Astra / Insignia). The assembly can also be done without mechanic's apprenticeship.
